Purchased as a surprise for a 4-year-old. While certainly not constructed for longevity (plastic) it does serve its purpose to occupy and delight a child. Track is "flimsy" and somewhat difficult to join (push hard in spite of fear pieces might break off) and I strongly recommend an adult create/supervise assembly. The train functions perfectly (with 2AA batteries) and is reliable in motion staying on the track. The sound is VERY loud so an option to turn it off would be a welcomed feature. Overall, a decent toy for the price.
