I first bought the Culligan EZ-Change kit (it came with the cheapest filter). I hoped this system would solve the bad chemical taste problem in my ice cream. When that didn't solve the problem I bought this upgraded filter cartridge (the most expensive and advanced filter they sell for the Culligan EZ-Change system) and it still didn't solve the flavor issue my ice cream was suffering from. Frustrated, I bought a completely different brand of water filter (similar size, only the filter isn't quick-changeable, so it's a little harder to replace) and that solved the ice taste problem right away. I ended up testing the tap water to see what was causing my ice cream to taste bad. The tests revealed three dissolved gases (similar to chlorine) that are commonly used to purify tap water. These dissolved gases were completely imperceptible and tasteless and odorless when drinking tap water, but for some reason freezing this water into ice made it very noticeable and unpleasant to taste. This Culligan filter failed to properly filter out any or all of these gases, but the other branded filter I ended up having did a wonderful job. I really liked how this EZ-Change filter system connects/disconnects for quick filter changes. I just want it to work better with filters.
