Much better than the OEM front fenders.

To be honest I wish I had bought these instead of the original fenders. I broke one of the original OEM fenders in half while taking our 2009 Ford Escape Limited on a light off-road adventure in December. I screwed the factory valve together, ordered it and installed it in the spring. For $36 I was impressed with the quality and how perfectly they fit our 2009 Ford Escape. When I removed the defective OEM valve I noticed to my dismay that it was rubbing against the paint and had a light stain down to the sheet metal, it was already rusting. Luckily the stain was the size of an eraser head so I was able to scrape off the rust, prime the tiny stain and touch it up with touch up paint. Now you can't see it anymore. However, these shields fit the car in such a way that they don't come in contact with the painted part of the metal, but they come with some sort of clear plastic coating that sticks to the paint where the shield can rub against the clear coat. I didn't need it, so I didn't wear it. I wonder why Ford didn't think of this sooner? Another thing I like is the hardware that comes with it, it's all metal as opposed to the plastic parts on the OEM valves. I removed the device to the OEM, just tried to remove it but succeeded. The only downside to these Husky valves is that you have to drill an extra hole, but luckily it's in the plastic part of the car and the dealer drilled the other holes I need to install the OEM valves. I think these cars don't come from the factory with pre-drilled holes. Installation took about 20 minutes and I spun the wheel for easy access to the hardware. I just want Husky to give you all the hardware you need. You have to save a screw from the old valves. It didn't really matter since I was able to loosen a few screws without removing them. Can't complain about these valves, they have held up after a few months of use. Winter will be a real challenge but I suspect they will have a better build quality than the stock fenders. These are a must have if you have a Ford Escape, IMO, and they're made in the USA too.
