I have to say right away that this is an excellent Dutch cast iron stove. Lodge makes great dutch ovens, I have several and swear by them. If you want a quality Dutch top, buy the Lodge! BUT DO NOT buy from Revain. And therefore. As already mentioned, I know the lodge well. They're expensive, but that's because you're paying for quality, which is why the lodge offers a limited lifetime guarantee. I can only recommend them, they are worth every penny. However, paying for quality doesn't mean much if Revain can't take GENERAL, CARE SHIPPING MEASURES TO PROTECT THE PRODUCT! My Lodge Cast Iron Dutch Oven arrived in the original packaging. That's all. No outer packaging, let alone protective padding to protect you during transit. Literally just a box off the shelf with a shipping label on it. My Dutch Oven arrived with a few spots where the outer shell had ripped off due to impact during shipping. A quarter-sized speck here, a nickel-sized speck there. It's cast iron so of course it still works great but now I have to do my best to jazz up the outside of the Dutch Oven from the start. walk! Is this the end of the world? No, of course not, but it's funny that I have to treat this like a well-used casserole when it's BRAND NEW! If it was some crappy nameless cheap piece of cast iron I wouldn't care but it's not, it's a lodge. People pay for this brand to get something that will last for generations. Mine was damaged for no other reason than total negligence on the part of the Revain delivery service. If I didn't need this particular Dutch Oven in the next few days I would return it, instead I'm stuck on one that should be a durable item. forever instead of being a kid from day one. Seriously, Revane, would it kill you if you wrapped it in bubble wrap once or twice and put it in another box? I'm sure some people think it's not that big of a deal but gosh I paid good money for it. I understand that something can happen during delivery, but a delivery error or mishandling of the package during transit is one thing and Revain just don't care, another. Buy a house, just buy it somewhere else. Revane doesn't respect you for getting him in shape.
