I commute by bike in the winter and a good balaclava is essential for staying comfortable. These balaclavas are some of the better ones I've tried. The best thing about them is the fit. I have used balaclavas that are loose, leaving openings for cold air to come in. I have also used some that are too tight, particularly when tucked below the chin. These are neither--they are snug without being uncomfortable in all positions due to the spandex construction. There are two downsides to this product:1) The material is not very thick. Even on the Nordic version, the material is too light for some of the conditions I encounter. Even with a beard, I start to get uncomfortable when wind chills are around 0-10 F. Since you get two, you can always wear both, but it's annoying to get them on and adjusted together, and it's still not as warm as some other balaclavas.2) There is no vent fabric near the mouth, and breathing through the mouth will tend to fog glasses. This is a minor issue for me, as even balaclavas with vented fabric near the mouth tend to fog when I'm breathing heavily. I've found the best way around this is to use a head band around the nose with the balaclava below the mouth.
