Review on Aerocool Fan Temperature Controller Touch1000 by Sam Faucher

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Took 3 to get one that worked.

Let's start with quality control, Aerocool doesn't seem to have adequate quality control because it took 3 units to get one to work. On the first one I bought a month ago, the touchscreen on the left half didn't work. Then I got a second one and the touchscreen didn't work on the right half. I ended up calling Revain and they contacted Aerocool and the best response from them was "why don't you play with him and come back to us" while Revain was still on the line. They felt like I was getting it wrong (what the?) Revane agreed to release a replacement and the third is lovely. But it shouldn't take 3 to get a working block. The third one that works works fine but gives 3 stars due to the issues I faced trying to get a working unit. In a conversation with Aerocool I offered to give them the serial number and they weren't interested, instead the tech wanted to brag about how they've made their last "20 years" flawless. While this may be true, it's clear that something went wrong in production with the first two units and the lack of interest means I won't be choosing Aerocool again if the third unit fails. As other complaints have noted, the bezel is too large, slightly larger than the standard bezel size. So when you have a single-bay case like the Silverstone, you're going to get terribly cramped. With that said, the third block controls fan speed, and I finally got the computer quiet without having to use Noctua's low-noise adapter. Let's hope it lasts a long time because it's the prettiest fan controller ever.

Pros
  • Brushed aluminum front bezel
Cons
  • Ugly packaging
