Review on Apollo Longboard Skateboards: The Ultimate Choice for Skateboard Enthusiasts by Russell Wong

Great design, not a very good board...

I last had a skateboard when I was a teenager. 25 years later I decided to try again but on a longboard. I've looked at several options and believe me there are plenty, most of them in the $60-$80 range. However, based on the reviews and the design of the board itself, I decided to stick with the Apollo Galaxy. At $120 it seemed a bit more expensive, twice the other boards I've looked at, but the seller's discount won me over. On arrival the table was beautifully decorated. I chose Galaxy, so the glowing wheels were a nice touch. However, problems arose on the second day. The board started to squeak and squeak very loudly when carving/turning. My first thought was the strut bushings, so I adjusted them a bit for better handling, but the loud creaking stayed. I've even gone as far as removing the bushings and checking/cleaning them to no avail. I thought that at this moment I was still relearning on this board. Then on the third day the wheels started to fade. On the fourth day, all but one, when the wheels weren't glowing anymore. The nail in the coffin for me came when my son, jealous of not having a longboard, ordered one for himself. He selected one of the $60 bills I was looking at. You see, this board of his was much better made. Came in a box and even shrink wrapped, mine wasn't. It had strong, good wheels and a beautiful design. Best of all, nothing squeaks or squeaks and the ride is much nicer and smoother. After all, I was jealous of how much nicer his half prize board was! At that point I decided to contact the seller and tell him my dissatisfaction. I fully expected them to send me new racks and wheels, maybe just new bushings. I mean worst case scenario they could just send me a new board. Instead, although their response was incredibly quick, their response was to just leave the board and they would refund my money. To a certain extent I was satisfied, but for me it was like an excuse. It's like they knew their boards had these issues, so let's not search, fix, or replace the issue, just "here's your money back, have a nice day...". I really expected a lot better from a $120 board. and I came pretty close to even buying their $150 "Weird," but now I'm glad I didn't. I just hope the company can do a better job of supporting their products than they do. Refunding someone should be the last step, not your first and only choice.
