When I play different games, sometimes more than a few hours, I often forget to plug in the USB port to charge the controllers. Now the USB cable does the job, but I wanted something simpler than it was when I had a PS3. This charging dock gets the job done by allowing you to charge your DS4 controller through the ext port. I haven't used it for a long time, but I've noticed that I have to be careful when leaving the controller to charge. The reason is you won't nail it every time, I don't know if I'm wasting my time (like I don't play games lol) but maybe over time I'll learn to drop the controller and close it level out more easily. The plug on the cradle will move if the child accidentally pulls it out with force (this in no way prevents damage) but allows it to move forward when pulled. If you drop the controller to charge, it doesn't take much force to press it, it's more like making sure the controller is plugged in. You'll hear a click and when it's fully charged, just pick up the controller and play. Your DS4 controller's light bar will pulse while charging and/or only turn on once when fully charged. The cradle has its own weight and does not move. While I'm very pleased, the separately purchased silicone skins are very good and eliminate the slippery feel of the DS4's plastic controller.
