I bought this and the adjustable laptop stand for my home office when I switched from desktop to laptop because it was a better system was. Let me say that the document is very good if you are using Win7 and below. Kensington simply hasn't updated their Win8 software yet. They offer a driver package for Win8, but the problem lies with the drivers themselves. The manufacturer of these drivers has not yet updated their material. In the basic form it does what it should. Don't use this to connect an external monitor for gaming, you may have the latest graphics drivers on your system, but gaming only recognizes dock drivers. I haven't actually seen a major issue and can still play my games, but performance is a bit lacking. Avoid doing this in high-end competitive games. But for general relaxation while drinking beer it should be fine. The features I love about the dock are how it fits neatly into the riser stand, tucked away and off site. It has 4 USB ports on the back and one on the front, which I haven't had any issues with. There is no HDMI output, but for me it's not critical. All in all, this is a great docking station if you're looking for something for your laptop and don't expect high gaming performance. UPDATE: May 27, 2014 - I found out something about this device. Today (05/27/2014) my laptop started working like crap, seemingly freezing. At first I thought it was Windows 8 so I did the usual Microsoft curse, but I found that restarting the device by turning it off and then putting it back fixed the problem. My laptop is really responsive now and no longer freezes! So remember this little trick if you buy this device and your system performs horribly. Try resetting it and see if that solves your problem.
