Silicone is extremely useful in the kitchen. It is heat resistant, durable, easy to clean and can take almost any shape you want. These two sieves have very different shapes that complement each other. The more traditional round strainer is slightly smaller, but I find it more convenient to use with pasta than the larger rectangular strainer. Pasta (particularly spaghetti and linguini) tends to be naughty as they are thrown into a colander to strain. The rectangular screen doesn't hold the choppy strands as well as the good old round screen with its more traditional width. I find the rectangular strainer to be very effective for draining calmer foods like salads, fruit, veggies, and potatoes. Both screens are very easy and quick to clean. They are collapsible in height from 5 to 1.5 inches. I hang them on the wall for easy storage when not in use. Both strainers are very useful kitchen gadgets: they're much easier to use than my old metal strainers, they don't give food a slight metallic taste, and they don't rust. I'm quite happy with both.
