After extensive research in search of clean, safe water and clear ice, the Home Master TMHP System data and reviews helped me make my final purchasing decision. A month after installation I am completely satisfied and delighted with the operation of this system. I previously had an older GE system with typical membrane and canister filters. Every 6 months the "painful" filter change and poor performance forced me to find a better solution. My first route was to go with a Pelican Whole House Filter and Salt Free Water Softener combo. My plumber and others have said that an entire house filter is the way to go to clean water and remove ice, but not by much. Even Pelican suggested that RO is not needed in a whole house filter. While I am happy with the Pelican system, the water throughout my home is really soft and clean, my faucets no longer build up calcium deposits or itch from the tremendous amount of chlorine they add to the hard water here in Arizona. However, it is not a solution for clean drinking water and clear ice. Installing the Home Master system was easy. If you're a little savvy, Perfect Water's installation instructions and videos have everything you need to complete the project yourself. Color-coded tubing takes the guesswork out of connecting tubing to the system, which is awesome compared to other all-white tubing systems. All connections are easy to use "push to connect" fittings, the installation instructions are repeated many times to ensure you insert the hoses securely into the fittings and then pull the hoses out to secure the connection. If you do it right there will be no leaks. The performance is just great! When you consider that my source water (feedwater) enters at 430ppm and exits the Home Master system at 25ppm, the numbers don't lie. However, take a look at my attached pictures and you will see that the photos tell the rest of the story. I can tell you the water tastes amazing, as does my coffee and iced tea, but when you see a picture of Home Master produced ice alongside pre-RO ice, you're also convinced that the Home Master system is yours choice should be. . Facts About "Clear Ice"... While my specific results on clear ice are indeed impressive, you should know that pure water alone does not make truly clear ice. Cloud ice comes from two things: impure water and the way the ice is made. Typical refrigerator ice makers make ice by freezing water from the outside in. This process always forces trapped gases into the center of the cube. For perfectly "clean" ice, you need clean water and a "clean" ice maker. These machines freeze water in layers and freeze the water from the inside. The result is crystal clear, hard ice that lasts longer and adds amazing flavor to your drinks. These are the ice machines that most restaurants use. I have one on my list, maybe one day they will become expensive. Another great benefit of Home Master for me was that you only change the filters annually and based on what I see and read on my system. , it will be easy. I've also taken maintenance a step further by installing a HM Digital TRM-1 Triple TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) monitor. Installing the TRM-1 was easy: close the feedwater valve and drain the holding tank to depressurize the system (I also disabled the UV filter to be safe). Purchase a plastic pipe cutting tool (about $10) to ensure straight pipe edges for fittings. Insert probe tees into the line where you want to check TDS, this should be feed water (1/4" orange tubing), postmembrane (1/4" black tubing) and final product water (3/8" blue hose).I also called Perfect Water and asked where to connect 3 monitors, their customer service department is excellent, told me how to do it and sent me a diagram. As always, double check the correct connection of the pipes in the Taps and turn on the feed. Fill the tank and get on with the job. By tracking the post-membrane you can also calculate the percentage of membrane rejection, mine is currently running at 97% as per Perfect Water's product description ( up to 98%).An online study shows that membranes should be replaced when rejection rates fall below 75% to 80%.This triple monitor tells me about my TDS in the spring water, post-membrane and post- artesian water filter of the end product. Just as the Perfect Water folks describe in the FAQ, the PPM after membrane water in my system is about 15ppm and after artesian artesian water is 25ppm. They add minerals back to the water, resulting in a higher ppm level, but this also results in GREAT tasting water. Ideal drinking water is in the range of 1 to 50 ppm and is achieved through reverse osmosis, microfiltration, etc. While Perfect Water recommends annual filter changes, the monitor also allows me to see when the filters are degrading, so maybe I change them sooner, or maybe they last a little longer? A quick note on the HM digital monitor; If you look it up online you will find that it comes with 1/4" or 3/8" tees. The Home Master system has 1/4" and 3/8" pipes, so you will need to order a monitor with 2-1/4" and 1-3/8" tees. All probes that connect to tees are 1/4 inch. The good guys at HM Digital solved this problem for me. So what are you waiting for? Click that order button and you'll also write a 5-star review of the amazing Home Master TMHP. Update 08/30/17: Six weeks after installation the system is working perfectly producing amazing water and great tasting ice. Let me also commend The Perfect Water's support department. I called and emailed with questions about my system's performance and was given professional advice on troubleshooting that quickly resolved my initial problem. Not only do Perfect Water make excellent reverse osmosis systems, they back this 5 star product with 6 star customer service!
