AND it supports AM3 and DDR3. This 64-bit processor runs cool and consumes little power, which is ideal for heat/power sensitive systems or users who just want to save power. I've used this processor in a mid-range Windows Vista system I built for my son and I'm very happy with the value for money. Its default frequency of 3GHz with 1MB cache per core is enough to run most games and everything else. the average user gives up on it. I overclocked mine to a stable 3.6GHz using the controls on the MSI motherboard, but I didn't notice a huge performance gain, so I reset it. We've played multiple games on it, watched streamed web videos, surfed the web with multiple tabs open, and edited photos in CorelDraw X5 without slowing down or crashing. The X2 250 stays cool even with a small standard fan. I wouldn't recommend it for gaming enthusiasts looking to build a high-end system to run the latest 3D games, or someone doing heavy coding or video editing, but for everyone else this processor should be more than enough. We've never had trouble coping with the demands of new software or multitasking with multiple programs running. My 5-star recommendation remains.
