So I work with polymer clay a lot and when my last Makins extruder wore out I decided to give Walnut Hollow a try. I read other reviews and was hoping that this extruder's handle would be easier on my hands and work much faster. Unfortunately I was very disappointed - it's even harder to crank than the Makins extruder, in fact the Makins extruder seems even easier. And yes, my clay was carefully crafted and even my softest clay is difficult to turn. Adding to my frustration is that every time I try to use the machine an oily residue appears and although it is washed after use it needs to be cleaned again before use or it will ruin the tone charge and leave black residue on leaves the sound . It's also difficult to disassemble. I'm totally disappointed and will only keep this extruder as a backup when my new Makins wears out.
