Looking at the specs on this laptop, you would expect it to be amazing, especially for this price range. Looking at online reviews it's clear the screen isn't the best and needs a few more swipes, but still it looks like a lot. After using it I think it's worth the money but not as fantastic as it seems. TLDR: See what you want from a laptop before you buy one. It works well for me, but there are a few key shortcomings that may affect the various tasks you might want to use this laptop for. The build quality of the PRO+ is fantastic, with solid metal and a surprising keyboard that I really like. The Ryzen 4700U processor is a beast and the fastest processor I've ever used. Productive use such as programming, taking notes in class, running other professional programs such as the Microsoft suite or Zoom is done easily and perfectly. And it's actually a very good SSD at the same time. Cons - The screen, as they say, is bad even after calibration. It's only marginally better than my old laptop that I bought a few years ago for $350. However, as someone who doesn't use a laptop for video editing, this isn't a huge issue for me, but everything looks greener/bluer than it should be. I had software issues with this laptop that I don't want to have. expected from a finished laptop, especially from a company like Acer. I have issues with app blurring (improper screen scaling), issues with Cortana and the Windows Start menu, and issues with the screen not immediately waking up from sleep. These problems are rare and/or not too severe, but annoying nonetheless. THE GREATEST CONFERENCE, BY FAR, is the thermals. The laptop has amazing specs as I mentioned above, but it fails to take full advantage of them because the components overheat and are forced to slow down. The fans are loud and often run at full speed. I regularly experience temperatures of 70°+ when surfing the internet and 90°+ when (light) gaming or other more intensive tasks. This is a big disappointment for me as this laptop doesn't perform heavy tasks like it should. The CPU is limited to cooling the laptop and can't really do everything it has to. Overall, I'm disappointed with the low ceiling of the hardware, but it's perfect for my needs as a tech-savvy student looking for a good laptop for class. It is light and portable, durable, fast and cheap. Even gaming/heavy use cases. acceptable even if they are not what they could be. I recommend this laptop to many people, but it's not for everyone.
