My HP Pavilion Gaming 15 (15-cx0030nr) power supply's cables were starting to pull loose from the round brick and it seemed only a matter of time. a short could have left my computer without power. There are many options and I didn't want an OEM as it costs more and I couldn't see that the new unit wouldn't end up having the same problem. This one seemed just right. It's bigger and bulkier than the OEM, but for me the PSU is primarily a feature, plus it's 180W which is an improvement. and works great. Heat: Yes, but not a very good heat source. The OEM cooks way better than this one. Thickness: If you need thicker then this one is better than OEM.
