I have an old surround sound system that doesn't connect to my Apple TV... I had to buy an analog to digital adapter to get the surround sound to work but the volume never after about 65% of what should have been. Surround also came with a 30 pin iPod dock which is now obsolete and I had to buy adapters to connect it to my current phone. If only I had known that to her three years ago it would have saved me so many problems. Apple TV can now connect directly to Bluetooth and stream audio at FULL volume! My phone can also easily connect to it without having to dock it, meaning I can continue to use it while streaming music. I hear a slight hiss and an occasional crackle... I think it's due to grounding issues... But it's quiet enough that I don't notice it (especially when playing music or movies) and still recommend it.
