Quiet! And it sucks! As a carpenter/carpenter I've been to dozens of vacuum cleaners. Most of them sound like a tornado hitting a house and you must wear hearing protection while working. Well, there is no risk of hearing loss. Even my 90 year old mother (who hates Vacs) has asked me to use this Stanley several times since it arrived. The only drawback is the length of the cable. As an avid vac shop user, I would prefer a 12-15 foot power cord. Unfortunately, no one lasts as long as a standard household vacuum cleaner. And it just looks clean and sexy and looks great in the store. And it will withstand a fall, not a short one like most Shop Vacs. I have ordered hundreds of items from Revain but this is my first product review in a long time. I don't usually waste time.
