Does not correspond to the advertised increase
Advertised as 40x to 1000x magnification. In my testing, the zoom is 60x with the clear lens cap on. If you remove the lens cover to get closer, the best I could get was about 122x. I'm missing a zoom level, so I'm bringing it back. On the other hand, the images are pretty good with a maximum resolution of 2569 x 1440. As for the light, there are three levels of brightness and off. This was used on a Windows 10 PC.
