Review on RepRapper Gray PLA 3D Printer Filament 1 by Erik Sanders

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Bright, vibrant color on clean layers!

This green is very light. It is close to RAL 6018, which is close to PANTONE 363, but direct light brightens the perceived hue in this area. Depth and contrast are some of the best threads I've printed. The surfaces are incredibly smooth. The plane lines blend in really well, especially with small objects like the glass supports on my table. Features listed include "no bubbles" and this thread lives up to that claim. Other silk PLAs I've printed sometimes have exaggerated printer errors like ringing at high speed, but this filament covered that up very well on the CR-10, whose only upgrade is a double-speed extruder. So he looks good on average too. printers, but this filament also makes printing easier. Direct to glass printing worked better than expected. To print on glass you need a much flatter surface than if you were to print on ribbon. Silk PLA is particularly good for bed-level print testing because the intense reflectivity of the filament varies enough that you can easily spot problems. I was able to manually level my glass bed (transition from tape) by eye with this thread. The glass print rewards you with a mirrored finish complemented by the silkiness of the sides and top. I was able to print a triangular mesh (over 250mm wide!) on glass in a workshop under 10c/50f with no curl! 10 edge lines helped but it's still impressive as the print adheres so well to raw glass! Retreat. Even this silky PLA is not immune to this, but can be removed relatively easily. Manually grabbing and pulling works most of the time, but it also always cuts off random hairs. Because the strings have material, they're easier to remove, even if it doesn't look as visually appealing. So many times I've only noticed my print has threads after taking a photo/video, but because the threads are so visible you spot these issues before you waste time on the photoshoot, SERIOUSLY USEFUL! Overall I am very happy with this Reprapper Silk PLA and look forward to printing more spools for customers' personal and professional use. This filament was provided in exchange for an honest review.
