The product seemed durable and practical. The biggest problem was that when I drilled the pilot holes and hammered in the plastic anchors, the first one broke in two even though I tried not to hammer in with much force. When installing the other two dowels, I was even more careful and was able to get them into the wall without breaking. After I put them in and installed the screws, everything went fine, but the screws never bit (they just kept turning). I went to Home Depot and bought some new screw anchors that worked great. That was my only problem. I didn't use tape. But after installation, it looks solid. This corresponds to what I was looking for.
