Review on Innova 5160RS Scanner Battery Service by Matthew Marquez

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Good scanner. good for diagnostic, testing and measuring tools

Good scanner. Works well on my 2006 Honda Accord and 2016 Tacoma. It won't have many (what?) gearboxes and bi-directional airbag support. But for engine codes it works fine in my limited experience. I have some remarks about updating the device: I'm a Mac guy. I have an old win 7 laptop for the garage as it seems the engine tools are mostly supported by the win software. I liked that this scanner had Mac software available. So I get a scanner and the first thing I want to do is update it. I download the Mac software, plug in the scanner and it starts working automatically. Well, it shows a small progress bar during the update. The bar was full on the right and then just stayed there for 10 minutes, 20, 45 minutes. wtf. Disabled, reinstalled everything and tried again. The same thing. Seems stuck on update. All this time the scanner was blocked. So I thought I'd give it a try on my Windows machine. It started updating right away, but the progress bar was much more informative. It turns out that the device has to be completely reprogrammed, and it takes a long time. Give him at least 30 minutes. I'm not sure if the Mac software would have worked or not, but I've waited long enough for the computer to go to sleep. I have little faith in that. The Windows software worked perfectly.
