On first use the ports worked but the reader didn't work. I found the mass storage driver has errors in windows device manager, the driver is installed but fails to start. This usually means the device has an electrical problem, either with the cord or with the device itself. I had it on a power strip so I tried the front of the computer and it worked so I moved on to the next problem. I often see cheap USB devices, lack of filtering on power lines. I added a 100uF/10Vdc capacitor to keep the +5V line inside the case as there is room for a connector There is a cut out on the board for the 4th USB port which is not built in. After I did this the device worked as it should, reaching around 60MB/s when transferring data from the card and also using it as a USB hub for a mouse.
