Review on πŸƒ Saucony Men's Hurricane 22: Unleash Your Speed and Comfort by Sean Tops

The subtle technology in these shoes makes them the perfect choice.

For the first time in my life I had a fairly limited set of criteria for a new pair of running shoes. I'm recovering from a knee injury and wanted something to help me get through the final stages of recovery and my first steps in recovery. My criteria: cushioning of the new generation. If you've been using older tech (my last pair was Mizuno and before that non-reactive Nike), cushioning has come a long way in a short amount of time. Most brands are still figuring out how best to use this material and end up being too springy, soft or unnatural underfoot. In my opinion Saucony got lucky with a good formula/realization and this shoe feels at least a generation ahead of the competition. Gentle control of pronation - that used to be a contradiction in terms. I remember a pair of Asics with a heel block that hard that ran well, but was almost impossible to walk comfortably in (the clutch was annoying). Also in the new generation, the new foam combined with the pronation control seems really strange and out of place. The Saucony system is one of the best I've ever felt. The shoe feels solid underfoot and if you break the mold you'll feel the control, but it's not pronounced. Most of the time I'm in pretty good shape so keeping it invisible most of the time is important and this system is stable. My knee injury didn't come from running, and especially during recovery, any (and I mean ANY) instability seemed to translate directly to my injury. I was able to walk barefoot fairly comfortably, but anything other than walking shoes left me with a limp pretty quickly. To be honest, I didn't think there was a shoe that could meet this need (my doctor recommended me ridiculous specialty shoes), but the Sauconys give me enough stamina to really get active again. (not perfect, but good enough to make me wonder if I'm reaching the limit of my current condition) Not too ugly - these shoes aren't exactly pretty, but they don't have Frankenstein soles for what they are or downright grandpa mood. On foot they look better than in the photos and what bothered me the most was that the mismatch of multiple identical shades of gray is actually resolved in person. You don't participate in cool sneaker culture, but if you buy a Saucony, you probably don't care that teens want to choose your shoes. Finally, I wasn't thrilled with the look of these shoes when I picked them up, but when they arrived and I tried them on for the first time, I was pleasantly surprised. (Saucony understates the promise and overstates the look. I don't feel stupid wearing them for everyday activities with jeans, shorts, sweatshirts, etc., although I don't think I would wear them under khakis or anything but jeans.) Overall I am very satisfied with these shoes. They are inserting a complex needle at a time when I must rely on them to protect my knee and speed up my recovery. Not ideal, but highly recommended.
