Lots of patchy or buggy USB-C hubs that don't fully support the protocol or just aren't designed very well. This one just works. Either with my Note 9 to Dex (USB-C) or my HP Laptop (TB3) or any other device compatible with this type of adapter, it just works. My laptop has an issue with every dock I've tried where it doesn't work. t detects USB ports or connected external monitors 75% of the time without disconnecting and reconnecting 10 times. This device works fine about 90% of the time and when it doesn't, all I have to do is unplug it from external power (my laptops) and it works fine. My laptop is to blame, not this adapter. If you don't need the Thunderbolt speeds of this adapter, then you're fine. It is ideal for travel and as a static device. I have two of these and use one on my desk as a docking station and the other I travel with. With my Note 9 with Dex, I don't even have to take my computer with me if I don't want to, as long as I have a monitor and kb/mouse at the destination. Cons: The rubberized lid is bulky and doesn't have everything you need. Luckily it comes off easily.
