I have kept reptiles for many years and purchase most of my supplies from my local pet store. After reading an article in Hobby Farms, I realized that I could use these lamps (for heating only) as a heat source for a fraction of the cost of so-called heat lamps in the reptile department. They work well and have switched all my herpes tanks to these GE bulbs as the old ones burned out. My bearded dragons did great. Clutch after clutch of viable eggs. IMPORTANT: You still need a UVB source for healthy cold sores. HOWEVER, GE, IF YOU ARE THERE AND WANT TO GIVE ME SOME MONEY, I AM THERE!
