RevainBasics cables are pretty reliable. Every PC has 1-3 rear monitor connections. You can use one of several technologies such as the legacy VGA, HDMI, DVI or display connector. The PC sends video through the ports wired to your monitor, which may be the same or different ports, to receive video/TV from your PC. So a conversion cable like this is good if you have different technologies at each end. Make sure you always know if the signal on the cable can only travel in one direction or in both directions. Typically, DisplayPort extends beyond PCs, and most monitors have HDMI, VGA, or DVI connectors to receive the signal. Some people just buy short adapters to convert from one end to a cable but prefer to use a pre-made cable for the specific conversion that is needed. I used it for several months until I replaced the old computer with a new one with different cables. CAUTION: There are TWO different DVI cable formats, one is 24+1 and the other is 24+5 and you need to make sure the end of the cable matches the port on your PC or monitor. The +5 has four small pins around a single wide lip found on one end of the connector. 24+1 DOES NOT MATCH port 24+5 so be aware.
