I bought this rope to replace the safety rope I used on my roof for inspection and maintenance. I am not qualified or experienced as a climber or arborist and will therefore not use this for this purpose, but understand that climbers will also use this type of gear as part of their climbing and tree working gear. In my situation, this safety line allows me to maneuver much more safely around the concrete roof of my domed home for power cleaning and painting. The convenience of an integrated safety adjuster allows me to adjust the length of the cable accordingly, allowing me to work comfortably and safely on the roof. I have attachment points at the top of the roof dome that I use with another strap to attach this leash. I also use a half body harness to attach to the carabiner to complete the installation. Both carabiners and carabiners are equipped with a lock to prevent accidental release. The cable grip adjuster also works very smoothly and grips tightly as soon as tension is applied to it. Overall this was a major upgrade to my roofing installation and I would highly recommend it for safety and longevity reasons.
