I was so excited to find these space saving gadgets but it didn't happen. Please don't repeat my mistake, even a brief encounter with them can cause trouble and waste of time. your time and your money. I don't think I can in good conscience donate them to Goodwill, that would ruin things and make a mess. This is a defective product. I got worried when I saw that the plastic covering these hangers was covered in black dust, but I hoped it was just excess that got chipped off during shipping. nope These hangers leave your hands and any surface you place them on coated in black. I didn't dare put my clothes on. I tried wiping one of these with a damp paper towel (pain since 40 but tried to get it to work), I let it dry and it still shed a lot. I made the mistake of opening it on my bed and my comforter was instantly covered and stained. I couldn't just wipe/shake off those tiny hairs and just dig deep into things. I think it will be the same with clothes. Unfortunately I was traveling and missed my return window so I lost nearly $70 and still need new hangers. Again, this is a defective item and cannot be used. I really think all plastics would be fine. I wish the reviews for the different models weren't mixed up which makes the product a success overall, but if I were to look through more reviews I would see that the black velvets are ruinous and poorly finished.
