Turns out they were right is way too low, way beyond protecting your kids ears, is way too low , I initially tried them in a quiet room and thought they had the perfect max volume for kids, but they do not block any background noise, when they tried using them in the car they said they couldn't hear anything (2020 suv) and I tried them myself and the rumble of the car made it impossible to get acceptable volume, then we tried them on a flight and I already knew it wouldn't work after the car test, and of course they were even worse on the plane. which sucks but oh well, the search continues
