Before I used grill tape on the smoker, trying to set the temperature on my Oklahoma Joe smoker was a constant struggle. I adjusted the airflow and fuel/wood amount every 15 minutes as the temperature fluctuated high and low. Attaching the incense band to the firebox and grill lid was a breeze. Before applying the tape, I thoroughly cleaned the surfaces with a strong solvent to remove residual smoke. I used acetone. Removing the adhesive backing was difficult without peeling the adhesive from the pad material. I used the blade of a knife to separate the backing from the adhesive and gasket. With the gasket in place, my temperature is stable and easier to regulate.
