Received the Apogee MQ 500 today and finally got the opportunity to test my flashlights. The device was relatively easy to understand despite the complete lack of instructions. After unpacking the device, I noticed that the display is difficult to read. Upon closer inspection, I noticed that the front bezel was actually just a thick sticker that was misaligned when placed on the device. The sticker on the front didn't even stick fully and I had to press it firmly to the device for it to read properly. This can be seen in the second photo. The second issue I noticed was that the sensor itself is of such poor quality that it isn't even completely round and does NOT fit properly in the case. This can be seen in the first photo. In no way can this sensor be considered waterproof as advertised. Finally, the polarity of the battery is reversed inside the device. It shows positive contact with the board, but the positive must be pointing away from the board for it to turn on. Once you have the battery in, good luck removing it as it actually disappears under the case where once in place you cannot reach it with any tools. Meter. The cable has heat shrink tubing visible at the ends, is made of thin, cheap plastic with a $2 calculator display, and comes with PLASTIC screws. NOT what I expect from an "American" company, especially for $600.
