A while ago I bought a retro Salvation Army donut maker - brand new in a $5 box - called the Daizy Donut Factory (or something like that ) and it worked pretty well for a few years. I believe it was in the early 1970's when I learned how to make donuts with this device through trial and error. When the Daizy Donut Factory started to wear out, I replaced them with these. This works really well and I kept Daisy's recipe book as the recipes are excellent. But there are tons of recipes online that are also excellent. I can give some advice on using this.1. Keep a brush and about a tablespoon of vegetable oil in a small mold so you can clean the cavities between each batch of dough. 2. Use one of these upside down pancake bottles to lightly fill the bottom donut cavities before filling. This will help fill the cavities quickly so all donuts cook evenly. It takes too long to fill with a spoon and some will be darker than others.3. Don't wait until they're browned on the outside to take them out, but cook them lightly (until golden brown). Cooking them until brown prevents the sugar from sticking. Using bamboo skewers, carefully remove the donuts from the machine and immediately set them on their side in a covered container to keep them warm - the gentle steam will keep the outside moist enough for the sugar to stick without adding melted butter. Donuts - you just need to find the recipe that suits you. I recommend.
