Full Feature Fan Controller for Emerson Fans

Looks really "busy" but works well once you get the hang of it. The bottom and top rockers work in completely different ways, which could be confusing to anyone who hasn't read the instructions or been educated on how they work. The bottom rocker controls the up and down speed of the fan, and the LED strips indicate the speed. Looking at it that way, one would assume that the top rocker would do the same for a built-in dome light, but that would be wrong. The top button is actually 2 separate switches. Emerson makes fans with two light sources: one in the dome, as you would expect, and the other as an accent light. Each button, when held down, switches the power level to light. So to make the light dimmer or brighter you have to hold down the bottom button for the dome until it reaches the desired brightness and the top button for the accent lighting. . Once the desired brightness level is set, release the button. One touch (but don't hold) turns the light on or off in the last setting. Luckily, the peak brightness and low-level dimming is maintained for extra time during the cycle, so you don't have to guess if you got it right. If you think about it, this is probably the best way to get the full functionality of the switch panel, although using the rocker cover can be visually confusing. I'm deducting a star because I replaced my headlights and dimmers with new ones (for LED lighting) and installed fans. All other switch covers are "bright white". I wanted it to be like that. There is one shell that is almond colored and one that is lighter in color but not white. It stands out a bit compared to other switches in the house. I can try contacting Emerson to see if there is a "whiter" finish option. Additional note: Since my particular fan didn't have accent lighting, the top cycle switch wasn't used. I wanted to experiment with the top switch to control built in LED lighting in a room. The switch can handle up to 250W and the packaging says it's LED compatible, so why not? Then I would only need this switch to control the fan, the ceiling light and the built-in lighting in the room. I would give 6 stars even if I was purple! Unfortunately it won't work that way. Apparently, accent-lit fans use the same control wire for both the dome and the accent lights, which means the cycle knob isn't some sort of voltage regulator, but rather sends control signals to the fan case, where the voltage regulator is likely to be. I probably won't even be able to connect to the fan controls since my model won't have accent lighting. I tried contacting Emerson prior to purchase but for technical information they refer customers to a third party who cannot provide enough detail about the switch even if the switch is an LED compatible dimmer. After receiving the product and studying it with the electrician who installed it, we came to this conclusion. There aren't any flaws in the design, but I'd like to sort that out before buying (I could buy an accent-lit model and crack it instead).
