Works on bones but the mechanism is jammed and it is not possible to gently lower the cherries into the jar. When the cherry rises to the handle, it's magical. The plastic is pretty flimsy so I'm worried it might not last more than a couple of seasons. I haven't used other types of stoners, but I think it's still more convenient. It has very rarely not fallen into the pit, the children enjoyed helping in the kitchen and I trust that he does not harm the children.
