There is a turning point. There are very, very many of them - and you will know that because the screen will keep telling you about them. This would be extremely useful on vehicles without a windshield. The rest of us can just look ahead to find out what – guess what, all the streets aren't straight, need a parking spot downtown? No? Too bad, because the display fills up with a "Can we find a parking spot" screen and doesn't disappear until you tap the touchscreen - and it reappears with every recalculation, ensuring you have to take your eyes off the roads to apply it. They love hearing "Please take the marked route" every time they set off on a ride. Garmin engineers have to do this because you can't turn it off, just like you can't turn off turn or parking alerts. "Please U-turn" repeats about every 5 seconds. Oh, and if you're going down that winding country road with all the turns and turn-by-turn warnings and want to look at alternative routes, don't worry. Garmin treats each map as a central city - when Zooming out hides street views, so in remote areas you only see the street you're driving on, all others are removed to make the screen cleaner.Even after decades of improvement, that's what you get.
