I have an Instant Pot Duo Plus v3 and the relief valve is not used to select 'sealed' or 'vented', there is a separate switch for that. This fits snugly on the vent but is quite heavy on top and this vent is designed to be loose so it doesn't fit well and when I put it on as directed in the beginning it releases steam and prevents the pan from cracking finished crimping. I can pull it on when I'm ready to make a quick release, but it will immediately start blowing off steam in terms of potential safety. This probably works well for pots with a small handle protruding from the vent.
