Review on Garmin 7-Inch Suction Cup Mount by Jeffrey Connel

I have not been happy with the original Garmin mount that came with my 7 inch GPS since I first bought it 3 years ago. I was surprised to see that the mount that came with it was the same size as the mount for my previous 5 inch GPS. All too often while driving, the GPS and mount would fall off the windshield into my lap or onto the ground. Over the years, even with thorough cleaning, it has lost its effectiveness. This new mount is a big design upgrade, as well as a stickier suction cup (probably just because it's new). The new suction cup has a diameter of 7 cm compared to the original suction cup of 5.4 cm. The calculated surface area comparison is impressive: 38.4 cm versus 17.0 cm, or more than TWICE the surface area of the new suction cup. Please see my attached photos for comparison. The GPS mount is also longer to allow the 7 inch GPS to be clear of the windshield. My old one wasn't really a problem in this regard, but I appreciate the bump on the windshield that brings the GPS closer to me for better use. PRO: large suction cup surface, sticky material, long mounting post CON: requires more storage space when not in use
