Im amazed! It was definitely worth the money!

I was choosing between the d90 and a couple more cameras from other manufacturers and this unit. Chose 3 months! I re-read the entire Internet, including foreign forums . I took the last one. Then I compared the pictures - the 90th behaves better in terms of noise. At 3100, the colors are warmer on the new OWN Nikon matrix.
I advise everyone who takes fotik for the family. I talked with specialists in photography, their main idea is that the main thing is to be able to take pictures, and you can shoot a masterpiece on your phone + you can improve a lot in photography by processing files in RAW (NEF) format. Checked - a couple of minutes in Capture NX2 (a standard program for editing NEF files), simple manipulations - and the photo becomes many times better than the JPEG obtained with the camera
The most important thing that this unit gives is the desire to take pictures on it, a passion for photography. before that, the Casio soap dish lay for a long time, I photographed it extremely rarely (I didn’t even want to take it in my hands), I took more pictures on the phone, since I always take it with me. Now I often take Nikon with me, I specifically look for good shots and take pictures, take pictures, take pictures. What do you wish! While I take the number of photos, and the quality, I hope, will not keep you waiting)))) I am already studying the literature on photography. Happy shopping!

Pros

in addition to what has already been said: 1) The build quality is on top (I have Thailand). In comparison with the Canon 500, 550 - heaven and earth - hold 2 devices in your hands and you will understand everything yourself (Nikon is also out of competition in terms of photo quality! - compared) 2) the video, although a bonus for the camera, but I liked it. I don’t need a video camera now, because I’m not going to shoot full-length films (as most people, I think), but for home video it’s more than enough, and given that you can play with depth of field in video, then you can shoot masterpieces, which is impossible to do with a regular video camera 3) small size and easy handling! This is a huge plus for a family camera - the wife is not afraid of him (imagine what I would hear if I bought a D90) 4) and of course pictures! It's expensive to watch!

Cons

I don’t use autofocus in video - it’s slow and often misses, while the noise from the motor on recording in a quiet room is terrible, but manual focusing is quite convenient - you decide what to focus on yourself. And so, there are NO shortcomings for a high-quality SLR camera for 21 (with all the guarantees of the PCT, Kit VR, Thailand), with the ability to shoot good (not excellent, but good) video and high quality photos - NO. The only thing I’m thinking about is a second lens . I’m leaning towards the Nikkor 35mm 1,8, which gives a classic fifty dollars on crop - you can shoot half-length portraits with it, and you don’t have to climb on the closet indoors to catch several people in the lens, and most importantly - lens speed :)
