Beaba Babycook makes family meals easier

After reading some of the reviews I almost got scared and I'm glad I didn't. The first two were prepared in portions by children who are now 3 and 4 years old. When it came time to switch my 6 month old to solid food, I wanted to cook his meals at home too. But with less time and space in the freezer, portioning just wasn't possible. I wanted to cook him a meal using the ingredients I used for family dinners. Attempting to grind small amounts in a regular sized blender or processor is not possible. Saw this and while it would make meal times easier - it is! Now the kid eats the same as we do, just steamed and mashed. I can cook 3-4 servings at a time and just pop the excess in single serving containers in the fridge. I cooked a whole chicken, separated the meat, put it in small bags and put it in the freezer. Now when I cook for older children, I put a batch of chicken on the stove with vegetables and/or fruit and it cooks while I make dinner for the rest of the family. LIGHT. The mold issue shouldn't be an issue for other reviewers as long as you make sure the tank is empty and don't remove the top to allow it to air dry. The same goes for the blender/steamer parts. Simply dry them between uses. I use water from my Brita to reduce limescale build up between cleanings. If your tank doesn't completely drain in a regular steamer, it will do the same. - The work surface is small, about ¾ the size of my Kitchen Aid stand mixer. It is small and works with small volumes, it is not said that with large batches. So I'm puzzled by how frustrated people are that he doesn't make large batches. It says it has a 2 ½ cup bowl. - The Beaba website sells replacement parts separately, which I liked just in case something needs to be replaced. I cook a lot and need to change the blades on my large food processor, so I'm glad parts are so easy to come by. The steamer will automatically turn off and the lights will go out, but like a regular steamer, food placed over boiling water will continue to soften. The booklet lists the operating hours of the steamer, so it is actually quite easy to calculate the time. (Level 1 on a bowl - 7 minutes, Level 2 - 10 minutes, Level 3 - 15 minutes). - There are more free recipes on the Beaba website. (My kids love 2/3 pumpkin, 1/3 pear, and a pinch of pumpkin pie spice.) The blender worked great for my 6 month old fully mashed pumpkin, carrot, sweet potato, pear, nectarine, banana, and butternut squash , which I pureed there. I dilute with water or pear juice. - Hold the switch to the right to puree. I don't mind holding the switch for 30-60 seconds much. So I don't see this as a design flaw. The top and bottom don't match perfectly - they can't, otherwise there will be too much pressure inside the steamer and the food will be pressure cooked rather than steamed. .In short, this is my third child that I cook for at home and I love it. Some of the design flaws that others have mentioned aren't flaws at all. I have to cook a meal for the kids at 5am and one for my husband and I at 7am when he gets home. This makes it easier to prepare baby food with the same ingredients at the same time.
