I'm sorry to say that this food gave my cats smelly, loose stools (sometimes diarrhea) until they switched to Primal. It went like this for about 4 weeks. The reason it took so long is because we just got a new kitten and an adult male. Our current cat had large, smelly stools, but the new kitten and adult cat had diarrhea. At first I thought it was a switch from their previous cat food to our cat food. I have used dry and wet food Instinct. I gave them some time to adjust and did a lot of research. I'm not sure, but after researching it, pea protein turned out to be the culprit. Although pea protein is useful for humans. It is poorly absorbed by animals. With the next bowel movement, I saw an immediate change (less than 12 hours). It's amazing how quickly they feel better. After they seemed to digest Primal (raw and freeze-dried) well, they started using Pur Vita Duck and Lentils in dry food. They are all great in raw, freeze-dried, and pelleted forms from the pet store. Note: I bought my new pet food from a pet store in California. I am concerned that my cat's digestive issues are simply related to Revain pet food. Other reviewers indicated that the quality of the same brand responded differently to their pets than products bought in a physical store. I can't verify if this is true or not, but my experience seems similar. I can't help but wonder if the poor quality is due to Revain's deal with a pet company to offer 'better prices'. At this point and immediately after the transition, all of my cats have small, hard stools with a slight odor. You are much happier and healthier.
