My desktop problem has been solved
I bought a stereo headphone with microphone for use on my desktop, but the headphone/microphone device only had one plug for both functions. Unfortunately my desktop (unlike most laptops etc.) required two inputs, one for a microphone and one for stereo headphones. This adapter solved my problem and now I can listen and speak during my German class.
