The actual thickness of the drive is just over 9.5mm, so it's not suitable for some 9.5mm IDE laptop hard drives substitute. The exposed pins of the IDE connector are covered with duct tape, which was clearly punctured in my example. You may need to apply better quality electrical tape to the bottom of the IDE connector for a secure installation. This will likely further reduce the chances of the drive fitting into tight spaces.
