A sail knife is an absolutely essential piece of gear. If you think you need a sail knife, you know you need a sail knife and why. This knife does not meet any of these requirements. The blade is scrap metal with a terrible blade. With dry, warm hands on the desk, the blade is difficult to open. No blade lock. If you could open the blade even with sailing gloves in an emergency, you would most likely close the blade with your hand. I bought this as a knife set to keep in my kayak but was afraid to rely on it in situations where a knife would be handy. Stop at something like Myerchin or Spyderco.
