There was no tape or anything else to prevent opening, so it's very likely that was the case. In fact, when I first received it, I thought the lid was dusty. But when I opened it up, I found the dust was at the very top of the brick! This means that it must have been exposed to the air for a long time. I bought it from Amazon so I didn't have to pay shipping directly from Meron - I paid shipping. I'm sure you will get a better quality product than this one. After all, it happens to someone's face.
