150Amp Shutdown @ 78Amp

Used a 150A circuit breaker on a 1500 watt inverter and ran a 5000 BTU air conditioner. Using an overhead ammeter I applied 33 amps and the bottom of the breaker got very hot. I then switched to a 10,000 BTU air conditioner which drew 78 amps which caused the switch to get very hot and shut off after 5 minutes.
