I've had a few coffee grinders as I'm a big pineapple lover. The first time I used a stoner can be described as one of the turning points in my life. My last bit was a stainless steel OXO bit which has lasted a little over 2 years and finally the small weld on the underside holding the bit failed a month ago. I saw the same model at Revain that was about twice what I paid at Target so I decided to try another brand. As for the pros of the price and the cons of the aesthetics, I give it a solid 3.5 stars. If it was a few bucks more expensive it would be 3. When you first open the box you realize they really made the packaging cheaper. The metal case is slightly warped (imagine drawing a circle on paper with your non-dominant hand). This could be a quality control issue as I don't see any other reviews mentioning this. The black plastic upper is a one-piece molding, and the buttons are die-cut except for the tabs that hold them in place. Either due to poor quality control or because the thin steel body is not fully concentric, the plastic plate will not easily fit into the steel. wave and you have to move it. Once it's in, you'll have to wiggle it some more to get the thin plastic buttons to pop out of the holes in the shaft to lock it in place. Usually one side is easier than the other. This scrapes the black plastic off the metal after only two uses. Once assembled it works like a charm which is a saving grace that has earned it 4 stars. The breakdown is more like the same stirring. I have not had these issues with my stainless steel OXO drill as it was a quality product. Otherwise I would choose the next grade in the $10-$15 range. Also note that if your steel bar scratches the plastic lid, some of it may get stuck in the pineapple slices as you move them.
