Review on Sony ICD PX333 Digital Voice Recorder: High-Quality Recording for Crisp Sound by Troy Robinson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Best in class, exceeds expectations

Works perfectly. Some people say that recording only in mono is a problem for them, but actually I would prefer mono so that all sounds are recorded the same way. You can later use the recording editing software if needed. The microphone is very sensitive and can be adjusted in the settings. There are several pre-programmed scene modes to choose from depending on your needs or make your own settings. Another thing I like is that you can insert an SD card with MP3 music files and use it as a portable MP3 player. I haven't found anything in it yet that I don't like. For some purposes more expensive multi-track stereo tape recorders might be better, but for what I need and the price range suits me very well, especially since a separate MP3 player I was planning to buy would have cost about $50 more. I also like that it runs on 2 AAA batteries. I've been using it for several hours and the battery life hasn't dropped a notch. Some people prefer rechargeable devices, but I don't like the idea of the battery draining when I'm away or constantly thinking about charging it. In addition, batteries will eventually become very weak or die after a few years, especially if they are not properly charged every time. I can carry a few extra batteries in my pocket knowing I can record for several weeks wherever I go without needing power.

Pros
  • Sturdy finish
Cons
  • A few small things
