The first four brushes on the left, including the small fan brush, are quite thin and better for removing excess powder/shadow. The rest of the brushes are surprisingly good! Rigidity helps with loading and attaching. I have used expensive and cheap brushes for both painting and makeup and I am very happy with this purchase. I was disappointed that there wasn't a traditional kabuki brush (I've had my first brush in years and it's by far the best I've owned) and that there wasn't a liquid eyeliner brush. Based on other reviews I've seen a lot of complaints about the shedding. Hair loss comes with every brush, especially if you are unfamiliar with proper grooming and brushing; Fallout happens anyway. I've also seen complaints about the smell. The case smells like any new product wrapped in plastic which is nothing to complain about unless you are pregnant. I love the business! It's not leather, but it does the job of keeping all the brushes tidy. I already have brush protectors to keep my brushes in shape, so I wasn't too disappointed that few brushes had proper plastic protectors; The small brushes were simply wrapped in disposable plastic. Overall, this is a great set for both beginners and experienced artists.
