UPDATE (about 1.5 years after purchase and first review): I wish I could give this air purifier another 5 stars for their phenomenal customer service. My air purifier fell apart and it was very sad. Day. Thought I would at least try to contact Levoit before buying another one. After sending them some basic information, they replaced it. I am so impressed that I will stay with this brand forever. Original: This is one of the best purchases I've ever made as a homeowner. I can only recommend it and gladly give more than 5 stars. We have four dogs and three cats in our household. I am asthmatic and have severe seasonal allergies. Luckily I'm not allergic to my pets, but of course I would prefer to keep dander and hair to a minimum. Two of my dogs are notorious for breathing problems - the Pug and the English Bulldog. Our house is usually a hangout place in the summer and I bought the air purifier right before our 4th of July party. I was concerned that vacuuming and steam cleaning would not be enough for our large company. It arrived the day before and everything was great when everyone showed up. My two main concerns were the quality of the air in my house and trying to keep my house free from cat and dog odors. By using this cleaner on top of a regular cleaning schedule, the pet odor is almost gone. I feel like I'm breathing better and I hope my four-legged friends will too. I spent a little more money on this than some of the others I checked out and it was worth every penny. I can control it from my phone. I have an app and I've also synced IFTTT to turn it on automatically when pollen counts are high and turn it on when the indoor air quality drops to moderate. I will be adding more shortcuts as I continue to expand my smart home gadgets. I have a feeling the sensors are pretty accurate. I have it in the middle of the house, between the kitchen, living room and main hall. It is usually read as blue (best) or green (good). Air quality has dropped to moderate to poor as a result of a response to cooking smells, Febreeze, and cleaning nearby air vents. It quickly neutralizes anything it detects. Luckily it's quiet. Bulldog hates noise - he's a lifeguard and I don't know what his life was like before he came to live with us. He tries to attack vacuum cleaners and hair dryers and cannot be in the same room with a noisy device. It tried to adjust to this air purifier a few times when I first turned it on, but it leaves it alone. It's no louder than a pedestal fan. If you have any doubts about buying this air purifier, do it. You'll be glad you did. It's worth every penny of the price tag.
