External hard drive works with this

I was concerned that it wouldn't work for an external hard drive as some people say they don't but surprisingly it works for it but when a headset USB is plugged in nothing happened. An external hard drive was plugged into the 3.0 slot, so we plugged it into a headset jack, ONLY THEN the headset worked, but then the HDD was unreadable. So it really worked with the hard drive, but for some reason the headset didn't interact with it so I had to send it back. If you're looking for something to make your external hard drive work, this is it. Unfortunately the headset didn't work.
